Speaker Bio
Michelle Mayorga is a leading expert in Latino public opinion, and has spent two decades in progressive politics -- recruiting, managing, and training candidates and organizers at all levels. Her clients have included Democratic candidates around the country, such as Senators Ruben Gallego (AZ), Ben Ray Luján (NM), Martin Heinrich (NM), Reps. Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Andrea Salinas (OR-6), and Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-3). She has also worked with advocacy and nonprofit groups like Equis Research, Progressive Caucus PAC, Sierra Club, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus' BOLD PAC.
Through her work with Equis Research, Democrats' largest Latino political research project, Michelle studied the gender divide within the Latino electorate. Michelle’s experience conducting research in communities of color has helped elect Reps. Melanie Stansbury (NM-1), Pramila Jayapal (WA-7), justices on the New Mexico Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and leaders in Native American communities. She has also worked on successful independent expenditure campaigns supporting Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Gov. Jared Polis, Rep. Maxwell Frost, and, through her work with the Democratic Association of Secretaries of States, the Secretaries of State for Arizona and Nevada.

Michelle earned her BA from Yale University, with a double major in American studies and ethnicity, race, and migration. In 2016, the American Association of Political Consultants recognized Michelle with their 40 under 40 award. Her family hails from Nicaragua and she grew up in South Florida. She now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
